Fanes-Senes-Braies Natural Park — UNESCO Jewel
Covering 15,680 hectares, the Fanes-Senes-Braies Natural Park is the largest protected area in South Tyrol — and probably the most beautiful, certainly the most geologically varied and mysterious of all the Dolomites. An extraordinary UNESCO World Natural Heritage site: silent high plateaus, million-year-old Dolomite formations, stone pine and larch forests, crystal-clear alpine lakes and an atmosphere steeped in Ladin legend.
From Hotel & Residence La Villa, the gaze falls directly on the imposing rock face of the Sass dla Crusc — the natural barrier dominating the La Villa panorama, said by Ladin tradition to have inspired the legend of the Rëgn de Fanes: the kingdom of Princess Dolasilla.
The park enchants through authentic, unspoilt beauty: the famous Lake Braies with its emerald waters, the Fanes waterfalls, Lé Vërt, Lake Limo and the small lakes of the Alpe di Gran Fanes. The Senes and Fanes mountain huts offer traditional malga cuisine and are ideal starting points for excursions through alpine meadows and mountain peaks.
